Club Information Tree

This contact tree is intended to solve the problem that members often miss important announcements because the club chat jumps erratically when we scroll more than 8-12 hours (it varies) backward, and will often not stop until the chat is several months old.  Then members have to painstakingly scroll back down to current times.  A lot of members can’t put up with this every day, and so they miss important information in the club chat.

This will not be a perfect fix.  After receiving a notice of an important announcement, you still may have to scroll backwards, experience the jump-back, and scroll down for the announcement.

Nevertheless, all members are required to review the important announcements, so just bear with the inconvenience.  Hopefully, there won’t be a lot of these announcements.  By having this contact tree, you will only have to endure the jump-back and scroll-down when it really matters.

All officers are required to have at least one game with each of the members they are assigned to contact.

Members are required to maintain at least one game from their assigned officers.

Everyone is required to review the important announcements when they receive a notice.

I arranged the contact tree so that officers will get 2 notices, except for those that I will notify myself.  The 2 notifications are for redundancy, in case an officer is not available when the contact list is activated.  I assume that since I am the one making the announcement, I will be here to notify the officers on my list, so those officers only need the one notification that I will send them.

I had previously arranged the notification tree so that officers in the easterly time zone would contact officers in the next time zone to the west.  That turned out to be a problem when officers in different time zones had difficulty scheduling their games with those on their lists.

This time, I have grouped officers and their lists in their shared time zones wherever possible.  It wasn’t always possible, however.

If an officer has difficulty maintaining games with all those on their lists, please notify me and I will make adjustments.

After an officer has notified those on their lists, please notify me that it was completed.  Thanks!

The message that officers send to notify other officers and members should be:

Please see an important announcement made by Fangdango at (insert the relative time elapsed since the announcement was made in the club chat, such as “6 hours ago” or “2.5 hours ago”).

DON’T use your local time for when the announcement was made.  That won’t work for members in other time zones.
If the notification is a simple one, I will just give you the wording.  For example, for the announcement of this new information tree:
“Please see the new club information tree on the club’s website.”​
